78rpm - MP3 ISTD design brief

Asked by ISTD to display popular song lyrics from the 20th Century using primarily typography, I designed a poster that joint the subject matter in an innovate approach that was suitable to both songs. The two songs chosen were about drug addiction, however one song was written with alot of metaphors and the other was alot my literal about the effects of having a drug addiction.

18 Developments Poster

Printed on an A1 off white 156 gsm sheet of paper. The poster is about the councils 18 major proposed developments of the Bristol and how 13 of the 18 proposed changes are not what the Bristol public want, this result came from a research questionnaire filled in by 100 of the Bristol general public. As the text in the poster is all directed taken from the councils website, the idea of the lines is to cover up the irrelevant information and enlarge the facts that majority of the developments are not wanted by the public.

Plane Unfair Publication

This publication, was very similar to the Cabot Circus publication, in the fact that I questioned alot of nearby residents about the proposal of planning permission for the expansion of the Bristol airport runway, the publication designed to portray the publics perception of the development and the causes and concerns of the expansion to the Bristol City Council, so that they become more aware of the general perception.

'Do You Really Listen'

A set of posters printed on recycled brown 56gsm paper, aimed at the Bristol City Councils terrible efforts of asking the Bristol public their ideas for the future of Bristol and plainly ignoring their suggestions. Posters were put up throughout the Bristol centre, expressing to the public their ideas and how they were clearly detracted by the council.

Inmotion editorial brief (HND)

Set a brief in college to design a masthead for a fictional transportation magazine, along with a front cover, contents page and opening double spread. My masthead was heavily influenced from 1960's American car badges and the idea of it being italic and all joint up is to bring the element of speed across to the reader. The cover and spread is based on the old and new mini and whether the new mini has the same iconic feel as its predecessor. The spreads take the feel of blueprint layouts of the size difference in the two mini's.

Feelgood Rebranding Brief

My final brief for my HND was a self initiated brief, which i decided was to be a rebrand of a juice and sparkling drink that i was very fond of, however felt that its current marketing and identity was aimed at the wrong audience, so I rebranded the drink at a new market, the product was redesigned to be more suitable for a pub and restaurant market. keeping the same essence of the current drink, the idea of healthy ingredients to keep the consumer happy, the new identity followed this, but to an older target market.

Riverside Corporate identity

Fictional brief set in my second year of my HND in graphic design to design a new logo and identity, along with advertising leaflets and promotional material and van liveries. The logo was kept very simple and has strong reference to the colours researched form the are, the idea of the three leaves being on the side plays on the company name 'Riverside' without being drawn into a corporate and literal garden centre style identity.

Streamline Logo

A small fictional brief set to design a new logo and identity for a short haul airline company. I came up with the name streamline as i felt it was suitable and unique to the point of speedy short haul flights. Other identity collateral were designed for the company included, letterhead, compliment slip, business card and advertising for cheap flight as well as a plane livery that followed the style of the identity.

Graphic Design HND show branding 2008

I was chosen by my tutors at Filton college to design the show banding for the 2008 graphic design show. The branding included posters, flyers, ecards, name cards and business cards.

Futura Typographic Poster

A brief set in my second year of my HND in graphic design, was to choose a typeface and design a typographic wrap around poster related to the typeface and history period of its existence, for the Baseline magazine. I decided to choose the Futura typeface as I used it alot through previous corporate identities. I decided to keep the focus on the simplicity and geometrics of the typeface.

Wanted and Given Posters

A series of two posters that highlight the Bristol Councils poor effort in taken to account the changes the public want to see within the city. Posters are part of my self directed study based on public perceptions of Bristol.
